CONCEPTION:
The Elens Foundation Team, having successfully completed “PROJECT FEED SOMEONE” in the interiors of Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT (Lukuku and Kpanigo villages) on Saturday 9th September 2023 in compliance with Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, decided to adopt Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) on her next Project tagged “PROJECT SKILL UP AND SCALE UP” as part of our contributions towards the wellbeing of the poorest of the poor in society.
ABOUT PROJECT SKILL UP AND SCALE UP:
Since our first Project (FEED SOMEONE) in 2023 was held in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, we decide to extend our humanitarian aid and support to neighbouring Nassarawa state. This led to a surveillance visit by our Welfare Team. The outcome was the adoption of an 8-year old Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in the far interiors of Masaka, Nassarawa state.
The Camp is made up of an estimated 500 hundred residents with little access to quality wellbeing. To this end, the Project focussed on capacity building, empowerment, and relief materials distribution.
CAPACITY BUILDING:
We strategically adopted four (4) vital empowerment/training objectives that we believed would be beneficial to the economic capacity of participants as follows:
- Chemicals: Soap and Air Fresher Production
- Photography: Introduction to Professional Photography
- Baking: Doughnuts and Chin-chin Production
- Hand Crafts: Hand fan, Slippers, and Book Cover
EMPOWERMENT:
Outstanding participants from each class were empowered for business start-ups with financial grants and equipment as follows:
- Chemicals: Start-up kit with N5,000 financial support for two outstanding participants, and N5,000 financial support to another two outstanding participants.
- Photography: N5,000 financial support for four outstanding participants.
- Baking: Start-up kit with N5,000 financial support for two outstanding participants, and N5,000 financial support to another two outstanding participants.
- Hand Crafts: Start-up kit with N5,000 financial support for two outstanding participants, and N5,000 financial support to another two outstanding participants.
RELIEF MATERIALS:
Food supplies (One bag of rice, ten cartons of indomie, twenty dozens of soft drinks, and light refreshment) were distributed.
CONCLUSION:
We believe that the ELENS FOUNDATION’S PROJECT SKILL UP AND SCALE UP achieved its purpose and qualifies as a historic success. We shall remain committed to improvement, growth, and advancement of the Foundation and its objectives every step of the way.
